How Digital eDistribution Works
Whilst the music, video and games industries have embraced digital distribution with open arms, the software industry has lagged behind. Although the new paradigm of AppStores has proved that this model works, many vendors are still wondering how they can maximise their potential with a digital distribution model. This is where Software2 can help.
Our Digital eDistribution Platform (DeP) provides the facility to securely store electronic downloads alongside their license keys. When a customer places an order for a digital product on a reseller’s web shop a provision can be made from the platform to deliver both the download and the key automatically.
Step One
ISV provides software to S2
Software2 obtains software (ESD, on-demand or online resources) and licenses from its network of ISVs, which is stored in the Digital eDistribution platform (DeP), ready for instant purchase and electronic delivery.Step Two
Customers buy software
The customer purchases software through an online reseller shop. These shops can be fully managed on-behalf of resellers by Software2 or can be managed by the reseller independently of Software2.
Step Three
Information passed to DeP
The product and licence key are made available to the customer for instant access.Step Four
User downloads software via DeP
The product and license key are made available to the customer for instant access.
Step Five
Reseller accesses reports
On completion of the order the DeP marks the licence key as sold, and the order information is stored for ISV and reseller reporting.Software2 can provide you with in-depth reports on sales as well as usage statistics for all your software.
