Business Development Executive – IT Software to UK Colleges

Software2 is a dynamic company specialising in creative software deployment solutions to the public sector. We are based east of Leeds, at Thorpe Park Business Park, accessible from the M1/A1.

Our distribution division specialise in taking emerging technology to market. The focus of this to date has been Application Jukebox, the leading application virtualisation technology, for which Software2 are the main European Distributor.

In the HE sector we have established a strong, referenceable customer base and the company now works with over 20% of the top 50 largest UK Universities. We also have a growing number of customers in Ireland and the Netherlands.

This new role, created due to continued company growth, is specifically focused on targeting Colleges in the UK.

Whilst comprehensive product training will be provided experience of selling into the HE/FE sector is essential.

The Role

  • Proactively develop new leads to meet agreed sales targets
  • Handle calls and prospecting 
  • Help at all times to generate leads
  • Participate in team sales meeting and strategy


Education/Experience:

  • Some sales experience within the Higher/Further Education sector is essential
  • Proven track record for generating new business
  • Ideally have a University degree 
  • High work ethic and goal driven
  • Strong and clear communication in person and on the phone

Personal Profile:

Software2 is a fun place to work so an upbeat and positive personality is needed!

Whilst you will be provided with comprehensive product training, you will be expected to hit the ground running, therefore a proactive approach to your role is essential.

You will need to be a self-starter, as you will be required to build, and manage, your own sales pipeline.

This is a new, full-time and permanent position due to company growth.

Travel to colleges throughout the UK will, at times, be necessary.

Web Developer

Software2 is a dynamic, fast growing company specialising in creative software deployment solutions to the education sector. We are based east of Leeds, accessible from the M1/A1 and train.

With more and more Universities adopting our technologies and an increasing demand for our E-Commerce services we are seeking an enthusiastic graduate who can add considerable value around our Web Development and support capabilities.

The Role includes:

  • Web Development
  • Server Management
  • Shop Management
  • Customer Support

The successful candidate will have the following skills:

  • Some competence in programming with PHP (or similar)
  • A clear understanding of basic HTML and CSS principles
  • A tendency for problem solving and the ability to learn quickly

It would also be advantageous to have experience of the following:

  • Object Oriented Programming
  • Zend Framework
  • Javascript / JQuery
  • HTML 5 Components
  • Experience with unix-based OS’s

As a self-starter you will be expected to hit the ground running within this busy team and therefore solid skills and a proactive approach to your role is essential.

As a new full-time role in the company this is an opportunity for someone to play an important part in the growth and development of this fun and exciting company.

Successful candidates will be expected to demonstrate previous examples of work they have completed in this area.
